- The GEMU090 is the same ice maker as the Scotsman SCN60
- IOM Part # 1011448-106 is equivalent to Scotsman # A42077-001
IMPORTANT NOTE: Ice-O-Matic and Scotsman have discontinued using the sonar ice detection technology due to reliability.
The issue was that the sonar sensor was inadequate at detecting the ice level. This caused the ice bin to overfill. Also note, per service bulletin that only models manufactured between July 2025 and October 2025 were affected by this faulty component. However, it is suggested that the newer replacement component be used for all GEMU090 or SCN60 models regardless of date. It’s also a bit cheaper than the part that utilized complex sonar technology.
As such, both manufacturers have replaced this component with a thermostat type ice level sensor, called a “Bin Level Sensor Conversion Kit.”
The Scotsman replacement # is 11-0670-22.
The Ice-O-Matic replacement # is SCN60 (Yes, oddly the Scotsman model was used as the part #)
